The Iran war has threatened global supplies of oil and natural gas, caused fertilizer shortages and disrupted air travel.
 　Gas prices have gone up and fertilizer supplies are running low because Iran nearly closed the Strait of Hormuz to get back at the U.S. and Israel for bombing. This has shaken markets and prices.
 　The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway that usually handles about a fifth of the world’s oil shipments and nearly a third of global fertilizer trade.
 　Nitrogen and phosphate — two major fertilizer nutrients — are in danger because of the blockade. Farmers around the world are feeling the pressure from the Iran war.
 　The shortage comes just as planting season begins, said the World Food Program. Fertilizers are usually applied just before or during planting, so when deliveries are delayed, crops miss key early growth stages and produce less. Smaller harvests can mean higher prices at the store.

　世界糧食計畫署表示，這波化肥短缺正逢播種季節開始之際。化肥通常是在播種前或播種期間施用，所以，運送延遲，作物就會錯失關鍵的早期生長階段，導致產量下降，而收成減少則意味著產品在商店的售價將會上漲。
