肥胖 歐洲人流行病

A new report by the World Health Organization said rates of overweight and obese people in Europe have reached epidemic proportions. Nearly 60% of adults and a third of children are overweight or obese, higher than in any other part of the world except the Americas.
In the European region, WHO said the highest rates of obesity were seen in Turkey, Malta, Israel and Britain. In the first such study for 15 years, WHO said no country in the region is on track to halt the rise of obesity by 2025.
Being overweight or obese is among the leading causes of death in the region and is responsible for more than 1 million deaths every year. Obesity is likely to be directly responsible for at least 200,000 new cancer cases annually, and it is predicted to overtake smoking as the main risk factor for preventable cancer.
