The third inter-Korean summit was
held on April 27 on the border between
the two countries, drawing nearly 3,000
journalists from around the world.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un
has made history by crossing over the
military demarcation line to meet South
Korean President Moon Jae-in. It's the
first time a member of the Kim dynasty
has set foot on southern soil.
At the end of the one-day summit, both leaders signed a pact and made an announcement. Expectations were high for the monumental meeting. Some expectations were progress on denuclearization, and perhaps a peace treaty to finally and officially end the Korean War. In 1953, the Korean War ended merely with a truce.
To set a positive tone ahead of the meeting, South Korea shut down its propaganda speakers while North Korea said it would immediately suspend nuclear and missile tests, scrap its nuclear test site, and pursue economic growth and peace.
